How many times do you look at something and say, “it doesn’t make sense”? Before I was saved, I used to try to read the Bible and it never made sense. I also didn’t understand how someone could be so devoted to an invisible entity who seemed to be so mean. That didn’t make sense.
Fortunately, once I was saved and received the Holy Spirit, the Bible made sense and I began to get to know my loving heavenly Father. The one I thought was invisible and mean was so tangible and loving. I was seeing through new eyes and hearing with new ears and operating with a new mind.
Up until 14 years ago, I wasn’t much interested in the political scene, as it never made sense. People would promise to do things and nothing would ever get done. Things changed around 2007, mainly because I had spent several years deeply entrenched in the Bible and particularly studying the end times.
Jesus told the disciples that they would not know the day when He would return, but they could recognize the season. Let’s look at a few of these scriptures:
Matthew 24:6-8, “You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.”
We are definitely hearing of wars and rumors of wars. Nation is rising against nation. There are famines and earthquakes in ever increasing numbers.
Matthew 24:10-12, “At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.”
When I was growing up in the late 50’s and into the 60’s and 70’s, businesses were closed on Sundays, because just about everyone went to a church service. The United States was truly a Christian nation. That has obviously changed through the years. Our government, that was founded on the Bible, has fallen away. Our schools that used to teach from the Bible, have fallen away. Parents, who used to read the Bible to and pray with their kids, have fallen away. People who used to attend church services, have fallen away. False prophets have arisen, talking about money and wealth, and alternative lifestyles, and have mislead many. Lawlessness has increased dramatically in the last few years and most people’s love has grown cold.
What doesn’t make sense is that most people don’t recognize any of this. They think everything is good. They think what’s happening in politics is good for the country. They think that something that looks like socialism would be good for all of us. I can tell you for a fact that it’s not good the country or us. None of this makes sense in the natural realm, but it all makes sense in context of the end times.
We have a large percentage of our population who are blinded to all the very obvious facts. Why is that? Because natural things make sense and spiritual things do not.
1 Corinthians 2:14 says, “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.”
The reason things don’t make sense to those of us who have the Spirit, is because we are seeing things through the Holy Spirit. Those who don’t have the Spirit (not born-again), can only see with their natural eyes (using their natural senses). They are living by their senses and we are living by faith. I remember a Pastor once saying, “Sense is not faith and faith is not sense, the two are totally different.”
So, what I’ve come to understand is that, for those of us who have the Spirit of God living inside us, the things in this natural world and the things that natural people do, will not make sense. That said, we should not join in with them in their senselessness. We must continue to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. We must continue to walk by faith and not by sight. We must continue to pray and not just gripe and complain. Only God can change the path our country is on and that will only happen through the fervent prayers of righteous people, true disciples of Jesus Christ.
Will you walk in faith? Will you fervently pray?
